Paid a visit to metal sculptor Jojo Jilbert's workshop in Las Vegas. WOW, what a character... and creator of some amazing and whimsical sculptures!

Once again, thanks to KNPR and the staff at 'Desert Companion' for selecting my photo below as the 2020 Grand Prize winner. I will put my Panasonic Lumix S1 prize to good use! I took the photo while inspecting the inside of 12-foot diameter underground water line under construction near Lake Mead. The gentleman pictured was the foreman of the crew installing cement mortar lining inside the pipe. The crew was having a difficult time with equipment breakdowns, whereby the foreman simply needed a break from the frustration, high heat and humidity in the pipe. Time for a smoke!

Thanks to KNPR and the staff at 'Desert Companion' for selecting my photo below for 1st Place in the 'Rural' Nevada category. I took the photo with my DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone while flying over the abandoned Three Kids Mine in Henderson, NV. A graffiti artist known as 'Aware' took it upon himself to paint one of the thickener basins with a design that has become known as the "Wheel of Misfortune".

After 10 years of overseas living and travel, its great to be back in the American Southwest exploring USA's majestic canyons and deserts! Come join me...
